Creating Strong Dads

Creating strong dads begins by building strong young men who love and trust Jesus. Unfortunately, many of the young men we serve were not born into a home where dad was active and present. When an earthly dad has been absent, distant, or hurtful, trusting a Heavenly Father doesn’t come easily. But God’s Word reminds us, “Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will take me in.” Ps 27:10.

Often the young men we serve find it difficult to trust God because they have never known a man or a father they can trust. Through our programs, young men can experience healthy male relationships resulting in love and in time deep trust. Ultimately, those healthy human relationships lead to a place where they can receive “the Spirit of adoption… by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’” Romans 8:15.

After all, following Jesus isn’t just about forgiveness—it’s about belonging. God adopts us into His family and invites us to know Him as a loving Father. Additionally, God often shows His father heart through people—especially through men who choose to show up with consistency, care, and integrity.

When strong godly men show up for those we serve, everything changes. You don’t have to be perfect. Just be present. Your faithfulness could help someone discover what it really means to belong to the family of God.

Thanks for allowing us to build strong dads!

“My time with Jason was priceless in many ways. I had the incredible opportunity to be his student pastor but also I got to experience his time with the Seneca Football team as I helped with the team as well. One word that would describe Jason is growth. From the moment I met him I knew he had the potential to be more than a statistic. I always told him he would be a success. He was and is still willing to do what it takes to become more of a godly young man each day. Through the ups and downs, Jason always had a smile that was contagious. He has that same smile now! I love Jason like one of my own and I love seeing him give back what was given to him. To say I am proud of him would be an understatement. Collins led him. Jesus saved him. They both have made him who he is today!”

To say I am proud of Jason would be an understatement. Jason was only a few months into his time at Collins when I began. He was 15 and already a clear leader. Now seeing him at 23, feels equal parts unreal and amazing. Jason has always brought laughter and joy to every moment I’ve had the privilege to watch him grow which has included helping him figure out what he wanted to do for his high school grad party, to helping him do his taxes every year, to his sweet little girl coming into this world.  I say again, it’s an unreal thing to watch him grow into the man of God he has been called to be.  He has a steadiness of God’s love about him that pours out instinctually whenever he comes to visit us on campus and spends time with our kids. I see this every time I see him with his daughter. What a blessing SJ has in having Jason as her father. I am so grateful to my God for the blessing Jason has always been in my life and watching him be the best father I could have imagined.
