Over the last couple of weeks, our SHINE program participants and volunteers have been focused on GOALS! They have completed resumes for four participating youth, who were then able to attend a job fair where interviews were scheduled. We have seen confidence grow as these young adults learn that they DO have skills, they ARE prepared for their interviews, and they CAN get a job! This is a monumental shift in their beliefs about themselves.

Over the weekend, two of our students were baptized as an expression of their faith in Christ. In the last year and a half, we have seen six of our kids and one mom we serve follow Christ's example. That outward profession of faith is just one small glimpse into the deep-rooted change we have a front-row seat to.

When a child comes to Collins Family Ministries, the initial days and weeks can be difficult, but that is short-term thinking. Here at Collins, we are in it for the long haul. Our long-haul mentality acknowledges that there will be deep joy and great pain. It allows us to extend profound grace, see beyond today's mistakes, and see the masterpiece God is creating.

Fatherhood isn’t always easy. With financial pressures, legal hurdles, and the emotional weight of family life, many dads carry more than we know. And for young or low-income fathers, the journey can feel even harder—without the tools, support, or confidence they need to thrive.

In 2004, while attending Foothills Church here in Seneca, I began to sense that God was leading me away from my life in radiology and into what I now know to be vocational ministry. So, on a random Tuesday, I made an appointment with one of our pastors to discuss this little nudge I felt to do something for the Kingdom of God. During that meeting, the pastor asked some great questions and helped me get connected to a volunteer team.

70%, 60%, 20%, 17%, 3%. Those percentages are meaningless when taken out of context, just numbers on a piece of paper. In the right context, they have the power to help us set a course to fundamentally change our community. Your contribution—no matter how small—can make a significant difference. The question is, will you be counted as one who answers the call to make a difference?

The mulligan—a symbol of hope and optimism—is a powerful tool in golf. It acknowledges that we can get things wrong from time to time, or it could mean that we did not fully understand everything we should have before the first shot.
