A Heart of Gratitude and a Call to Serve

During my last two years at Collins Family Ministries, I have discovered just how much I have to be thankful for. I grew up in a small town with a mom and dad who loved me deeply and invested in my spiritual, mental, and emotional development. They cared about my grades, my friends, and always made sure I had what I needed to grow into a responsible and successful human being.

In addition to my parents, I was surrounded by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. They helped shape my character and demonstrated what true family looks like. From babysitters to playmates, my family left a positive imprint on my life that still guides me today. I am thankful for them, and I understand more each day what a true blessing they are.

But Collins has taught me a hard truth: not everyone shares my story.

At Collins Family Ministries, we serve families, children, and at-risk youth who are facing immense hardship. In our own community, we do not have to look far to see suffering, hunger, or homelessness. Jesus once said, “The poor will always be with you,” and our team is confronted with that reality every day.

In those moments, when I witness suffering up close, I thank God for the blessings I have received and ask how He wants me to respond. My gratitude for the family who raised me drives me to work toward lasting change for those who have not had the same support. The families, children, and at-risk youth we serve are not the problem; they are people who face challenges and circumstances beyond their control. They are just like you and me, but their stories look different.

For more than 45 years, people like you have stepped up to volunteer, provide meals, share clothing, and give financially to keep the mission of Collins moving forward. Your support helps us write a new chapter in the lives of the families and youth we serve. This year alone, we have seen eight families move from brokenness to reunification. This kind of restoration happens only through the grace of God, the consistent work of our team, and your generosity.

May God continue to use us to be a blessing to those in need for many years to come.

If today is the first time you truly understand the need and you want to make a difference, thank you. I am deeply grateful.
